Os tigres brancos não são albinos nem são uma subespécie separada, mas sim o resultado de um gene recessivo . Eles têm olhos azuis, um nariz rosa, e fundo branco cremoso com listras de cor chocolate. Os tigres brancos nascem de tigres comuns (Panthera tigris) e são muito raros no estado selvagem.

Eles ficam normalmente situados no Sudeste do Continente asiático e na Índia central e sulista. O tigre de Bengala branco mora em áreas gramíneas ou pantanosas e florestas onde eles podem ser bem camuflados. Eles quase desapareceram; a maioria vive agora dentro de jardim zoológicos ou parques especiais de vida selvagem.
